During their year of office each Town Mayor raises money for good causes which have a personal connection to them and Cllr Williams has chosen the following:
This charity was founded in 1867 by Thomas Barnados to bring out the potential of every young person in need. Even though this charity is worldwide the money raised will go to the Pontypridd Branch.
This charity was set up by parents of partially sighted and blind youngsters. It provides a support network for parents and carers of children in similar circumstances. Those who took part in the Town Council's Fun Run in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd in June 2010 would have run alongside members of the charity. The charity relies on donations to help them carry on with their good work.
The Mayor Cllr Williams says:
It is a great honour and privilege to be elected Mayor and I will do my best together with my fellow Councillors and staff of Pontypridd Town Council to organise many exciting and memorable events which will in turn raise money for these worthwhile causes.
